Hey readers! Sorry I have not
posted in a while, I have been super busy. One reason I was busy was that I did
my first lesson this week which was on retell! I had to have a book to read and
have the students retell it to me through an activity. I did my lesson on The
Rainbow Fish. That was my favorite story as a kid and I thought I would
share it with them. I was planning on using some of the apps that I had learned
about for digital storytelling to tell the story. I used My Story and Book
Creator. Well, when it came time to do my lesson, neither one of my apps were
working! I was absolutely freaking out as anyone would. On top of that, my
supervisor was coming to observe me that day. I was also sick which was the
cherry on top of that horrible morning. Well luckily I had three back up
plans. I ended up using a YouTube video that was a read aloud of the story.
They kids loved it and I was so happy. To retell the story, the kids drew their
favorite part on a piece of paper and I glued it to a piece of glitter
cardstock in the shape of a scale. The end result was that we made a giant
rainbow fish! It turned out so great. The kids loved getting to make a big
rainbow fish. My next lesson that I am doing is concepts of print. I will have
to post about that one because I’ve got some great ideas for it. Until next
time, have a great week!
